52 Weeks of Happy (22 of 52)

My small happy things this week have been…..

1. Bluebells

Bluebell carpet

Sunlight bluebells and spring leaves

2. Discovering long forgotten photos on my “big girl’s camera”

little blue flower Magnolia Bud

3. My newly planted veggies.

Beans Lettuces

4. And the thing that made me most happy was my small hound winning the category for “best condition – dogs over 6″ at the local village fete. To say I was proud was a complete understatement.

Relieved

My poor old hound picked up a nasty stomach bug at the start of the week. At 14 years old these bugs hit hard too. He was in so much pain and was so unhappy. It broke my heart. A late night trip to the emergency vet diagnosed the problem but also included a painkiller shot that disagreed with him and made him even more unhappy. There has been a serious amount of worry and tears in the SmallP household this week that’s for sure.

Catching up on sleep

Thankfully he is on the mend now. The diet of freshly poached free range chicken breast (spoilt? My small hound, nooooooooo!) with rice seems to be doing the trick. Plus rotisserie chicken to help the 5 tablets to go down morning and night.

I can’t describe how relieved I am that he is on the mend. My faithful hound who for 4 and a 1/2 years has been by my side making my world a better place. Who always looks pleased with life whatever we do. Who has turned from a thin stray with burns down his neck who flinched at hands and feet into a cheerful and rested little hound. He really does make my day, every single day.
