Bright, shiny morning

I was lucky enough to be about very early on Saturday morning. It was a gorgeous start to the day with a touch of frost and some wonderful sunshine. One of those mornings when it feels good to be alive :-)

The sun was just peaking up from the horizon.

Sunrise

It really was wonderful and a real tonic to the chaos that is Christmas. The weeks just seem to disappear in a haze of meeting up with people and present buying and general organising. Roll on the big day when we can all relax and spend time with our loved ones. I am hoping for plenty of outdoor time and plenty of knitting time over the festive period. I even snuck in a couple of rounds on my sock between shopping trips yesterday. Poor, poor neglected sock. I only have about 15 rows to go before I tackle Kitchener stitch so I really should make the effort. By jove, then I will have to start on the matching one (should I say hopefully matching as I didn’t take any notes on the first sock activity!!). Yikes.

Winter

I always dread winter. The shorter days. The colder weather. The permanently cold feet. But I think it is more mind over matter than anything else. Admittedly I do miss the natural light in the evenings so my crafty endeavours do tail off a little but there is much to be grateful for especially in the run up to Christmas. I love the cosy feeling of tucking up at home with some good home cooked stew. (I can really recommend this book). The pretty lights in all the towns and the beautiful shop windows. Going for a cold run and coming back tingling all over and ready for a nice coffee. But most of all I love the fact that mother nature does her best to keep us chirpy during these darker days with

both taken from the bedroom window. Hurrah!

I was really surprised to find myself reaching for my camera when I saw these skies. I hope it means that my blogging mojo is coming back :-)
